Galapagos to Nuku Hiva - Day 6 - A quarter the way there!

Monday, April 15, 2013

We got hit with some pretty scary winds last night. Winds hit 25 knots, which isn't a huge amount, but we have really big sails that catch a lot of wind, and only 2 people aboard. I usually set my alarm to beep every 20 minutes on my watches so I get painful little naps here and there, but there was none of that last night. The helm required constant attention.

Other than that, it was a pretty relaxing day. I did some laundry and showered finally. That's pretty much it...

We are officially a quarter of the way there! We hit 750 miles sometime this afternoon. (That's 750 miles rum-line. We have actually travelled further than that, but have been forced to zig-zag a bit)

The sunset was stunning tonight with really clear skies, so it's looking like it'll be a much calmer night!

Here is the makeshift cleat that we built for the whisker pole.

Everything was a success! She flys great!
