Galapagos to Nuku Hiva: Day 12 - Tick tock, tick tock

Sunday, April 21, 2013

The winds had died out a bit on us today. We were only able to hit around 5.8 knots average throughout the day.

We are talking about hitting one of the atolls in the Tuamotos on the way to Tahiti, since we will be there earlier than we thought. These are all really low-lying, flat islands that are almost uninhabited. Picture your all-sand island with just a couple palm trees in the middle that you see on computer desktop backgrounds.

The days seem to go rather quick on a less than 7 day passage. But longer passages like this, when all you see is water 360 degrees around you for weeks, the days just drag by slowly.

I would definitely have lost track of time and days if it weren't for this blog.
