Isla Mujeres: Day 8 - Jury Rigged

Our jury-rigged boom vang pin is finally complete, after 11 hours grinding and drilling! This pin used to be a chisel. It has a cotter pin through the bottom to keep it from lifting.

We did a test run of the drogue in the afternoon.

This beast is deployed in extreme weather (hence needing to have mastered deploying it at port or in nicer weather) to slow the boat down when riding down huge swells at 14 knots and losing control of the boat. It is dragged about 300 feet behind your boat and acts as sort of an underwater parachute.
