Fiji: Days 48 & 49 - Sailing to Fulaga

Friday & Saturday, September 13 & 14, 2013

The trip to Fuluga was brutal. I rarely get sea sick, but I was nauseous for almost the whole duration of the trip. We were heading directly into the wind and waves and had to tack back and forth a few times since we could not make any way in the direction we wanted, even with the engine running. The waves  were about 8 feet with a really small period, which made for some choppy seas and a really rough time for those "sleeping" in the forward cabin (ie. me). The winds were around 20 knots the first day, and about 15 knots the second day.

The waves were crashing up over the bow onto the deck and there were a few terrifying moments when the dodger/bimini were blasted with sea water.

The trip was only 180 miles rum line, but it ended up being a fair bit more than that and took us two nights.
