Fiji: Days 33 - 47 - Savusavu

Friday, August 30, 2013 - Thursday, September 12, 2013

Wow, I can't believe we have been in Fiji this long (and that I have been so lazy in updating my blog). I guess not a whole lot has happened that I find blog-worthy.

We have pretty much been hanging out at Copra Shed Marina here in Savusavu prepping the boat and ourselves for a big departure.  We are planning to leave tomorrow and do one big 'circumnavigation' of Fiji's remote eastern islands (Bay of Islands, Lau Group, etc.) over the next month. We are not going to return to Savusavu and just depart (for New Zealand) from Suva after this trip.

So if everything goes well, I should be in New Zealand finally in approximately a month and a half!

We also finally got our big package in the mail the other day. In it were the entire 'A Song of Fire and Ice' novels (except 'Dance with Dragons'), 'Sailing Alone Around the World' by Joshua Slocum, the Millennium TV series, and some other books and stuff.

It feels weird leaving Savusavu, this place feels like my home (once again). Not so much because I fell in love with it immediately, but more because we've been here so damn long, haha.

We emailed The Wakaya Island Resort and asked if we could sail there and make some dinner reservations seeing as our boat is named after the island, but they rudely denied us. It is a very high-end resort that only allows the mega-rich to visit. Sowe have decided to rename the boat (haha).

Looking forward to getting back to the adventuring life tomorrow!
