Galapagos to Nuku Hiva: Day 20 - Last day at sea for this passage

Monday, April 29, 2013

We ran the water maker again today, one last time before arriving in Nuku Hiva. The water in these islands is of questionable quality, so we just decided to make our own as we know it is drinkable.

We also decided today to stop at another island in the Marquesas on the way out, Fatu Hiva. It is supposed to be the most beautiful of the Marquesas islands, mostly due to its Bay of Virgins, whose steep sides are ringed with lush groves of mangoes, oranges, and guavas. Hopefully I'll have some good pictures of it on here in the near future.

Only 100 miles to go! We should see Nuku Hiva come into sight as the sun rises at the end of my night shift tonight.
